John Ward was born a 1626 at England.1,2,3,4,5,6 He was the son of William Ward and Elizabeth (?)6,2 He married Hannah Jackson, daughter of Edward Jackson and Frances (?), a 1650 at Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. At this time Newton was actually a village in the township of Cambridge.2,3,5 John Ward died on 1 Jul 1708 at Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Ward Genealogy gives the biorth date as 8 July 1708, in Newton.1,7,8 He has also been reported to have died on 8 Jul 1708 at Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Ward Genealogy gives the birth date as 8 July 1708, in Newton.3
He lived at Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.2 The house and forty-five acres of land were conveyed to John and Hannah by his father-in-law, Edward jackson by deed dated 10 March 1661, witnessed by John Jackson and John Spring. He owned about five hundred acres of land, which he distributed among his sons by deeds of gift in 1701.9 He left a will in 1707 at Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.9 He settled in Newton, home of his wife's parents. He was elected to the town of Newton's first board of selectmen and was its first representative to the General Court. He was also a deacon of his church.3
