     Thomas Kimball was born in 1633 at Rattlesden, Suffolk County, England.^2,3 He was the son of Richard Kimball and Ursula Scott. Thomas Kimball married Mary Smith, daughter of Thomas Smith and Joanna (?), in 1656 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.^1,4,3,5 Thomas Kimball died on 2 May 1676., killed by Indians, while his wife and 5 children were abducted.⁶ He has also been reported to have died on 3 May 1673 at Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts. . Bradford Vital Records gives "shot by an Indian, and his wife and 5 children, viz. Joannah, Thomas, Joseph, Priscilla & John, were carried captive, they returned home ye 13th of June, 1676."⁷
     He immigrated in 1634 to New England.⁸ He lived at Hampton, Old Norfolk County, Massachusetts Colony, on 20 Oct 1653. He owned mill property there on Oyster River.⁸ Upon Thomas's death, his estate was administered in Sep 1676 at Essex County, Massachusetts. Probate Record Volume VI, Page 207.⁹

     Mary Smith was born in 1637 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts. [Kimball Family History names Mary's parents as Thomas and Joanna Smith of Ipswich (p. 42)]^1,2 She was the daughter of Thomas Smith and Joanna (?)³ Mary Smith married first Thomas Kimball, son of Richard Kimball and Ursula Scott, in 1656 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.^2,4,5,6 Mary Smith married second Thomas Knowlton on 17 May 1682 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.^7,1,2 Mary Smith died on 20 Nov 1688 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.^2,8

     Note that Thomas and Esther are often given as the parents of Mary Smith who married Thomas Kimball. But that marriage occurred in 1656, so these are not this Mary's parents.⁴

     Esther Morse was born on 3 May 1651 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.² She was the daughter of Anthony Morse and Ann Cox.¹ Esther Morse married Thomas Smith, son of George Smith and Mary French, probably ca. 1675. Esther was the widow of Robert HOLMES, of Newbury.¹ Esther Morse died on 10 Jan 1731 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, at age 79.²

     Mary Hutchinson was baptized on 28 Dec 1630 at North Muskham, Notts, England.^2,3,1 She was the daughter of Richard Hutchinson and Alice Bosworth.² She married Thomas Hale on 26 May 1657 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.^1,3,4,5,2 She married William Watson on 5 Feb 1694/95 at Topsfield, Essex County, Massachusetts. ["Hale of Newbury" has marriage in Boxford]^3,6 Mary Hutchinson died on 8 Dec 1715 at Boxford, Essex County, Massachusetts, at age 84.^3,6
