     Thomas Grist was born a 1878 at Pennsylvania, the son of Richard Grist and Mary Smith.1,2 He married Rosina Pearce, daughter of Joseph Howell Pearce and Elizabeth Wooldridge, on 30 Jun 1915 at Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.3,4,2
     He had three sons by his first marriage: Raymond, Thomas and Gilbert.1,4 Thomas Grist and Rosina Pearce lived at 4735 Kilbourne Avenue, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, bt 1920 - 1940.      His eldest seven children were born in Watertown; the eighth was born in Sherborn, where he had a house built about 1691. His will dated Mar. 14; proved Mar 18, 1735. He served in KIng Philip's War in 1676.1 He left a will on 14 Mar 1735, proved 18 Mar 1735.4

Sarah Hapgood

     Sarah Hapgood was born in 1667.1 She married Jonathon Whitney on 10 Apr 1688 at Sherborne, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.2,1,3 Sarah Hapgood died a Mar 1735.2
     [probably a daughter of Shadrach Hapgood, late of Sherburne].4 "SHADRACH (or Sydrach) HAPGOOD, at the age of fourteen, embarked at Gravesend, Eng., for America, May 30, 1656, on the ship 'Speedwell,' Robert Locke, master. He settled in Sudbury, and married Elizabeth Treadway, Oct. 21, 1664. He was killed in the Nipnet country, near Brookfield, in an expedition against the Indians under the command of Capt. Hutchinson. (See chapter on King Philip's War.) He left three or more children, one of whom, Thomas, was born in Sudbury, Oct. 1, 1669. He settled in the northeast part of Marlboro, at which place he died Oct. 4, 1765, aged ninety-five. He left nine children, ninety-two grandchildren, two hundred and eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren." [ p. 56]

The widow Hapgood was listed in the "Account of Losse Sustenied by Severall Inhabitants of ye towne of Sudbury by ye Indian Enemy ye 21st Aprill 1676", her loss being 20 pounds [ p. 257].5 As of 10 Apr 1688,her married name was Whitney.

Shadrach Whitney married Prudence Lawrence on 5 Jan 1731/32 at Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. She was the widow of Thomas Lawrence.4,3,5 Shadrach Whitney died on 8 Aug 1764 at Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, at age 65.4 He was buried at Old Burying Ground, Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, His gravestone read:
"Memento mori
[Death's Head.]
Here lies the Body of
Mr Shaderah Whitney
who departed this Life
August the 8th A. D 1764
in the 67th Year of
his Age.
from death Arrest no Age is free."
He made his will a few weeks before his death, and bequethed to the town the sum of £40, the income to be applied to the support of the minister..6
     He married, 5 January 1731/32, Prudence Lawrence, wid. Thos. Lawrence. She died 25 Dec 1762 in her 68th year.4,7,3 He left a will on 20 Jul 1764. (Will proved 14 Aug 1764.)3
